Eye being an extremely important part of the body, extreme care is necessary in respect of them. In absence of vision, forget any enjoyment like reading, TV or computers, site seeing; doing even day to day routine jobs becomes difficult. There are many diseases of eye in which loss of vision is not reversible, i.e. if the vision is lost it is gone for ever. This makes all the more important to take good care of them. First and foremost, do not treat your own eyes unless you are an expert yourself, or do not take advice of people who are not experts in this field. Ones comes across many patients who for long have suffered due to wrong advice of well meaning people, but who are not experts in the field. This is entirely avoidable. Please do not use any drops (specially avoid steroids, they need to be administered under supervision) or other medicines without consulting an eye surgeon. Do not overstrain your eyes, while working or while entertaining yourself. More about the structure of the eye, common eye conditions and every day eye care are detailed in this section.
